Description

Yamate discusses growing up in Los Angeles and talks about attending school, his neighborhood, his father’s produce market; and recreational activities such as his involvement with a boys club, going to camp, attending dances, and playing basketball. He also talks about friendships; and his employment as a salesman at a banana company and the discrimination he faced while trying to get his job back after he was drafted. Lastly, Yamate discusses purchasing a car, his experiences as part of a teamster union, and his pre-war experiences with discrimination.
