Description

Nakao discusses his family's forced removal to Tule Lake Incarceration Center, and what it was like visiting them at Tule Lake and at Heart Mountain Incarceration Camp, where they were later sent. He then talks about his time traveling throughout Northern California and Washington State to Anchorage, Alaska for his eventual duty on Attu Island, Alaska. On Attu Island, Nakao fought his first battle, and recounts his first days in combat and his assignment interrogating captured Japanese soldiers.
