Description
Allan Okamoto begins his interview by describing his family's reasons for moving to the US, specifically Philadelphia, and his parents' personalities. He shares the demographics and community dynamics of the suburbs and his childhood growing up as the only Asian among his peers. Okamoto also recounts the first time he was discriminated against during a swim outing with his friends. Finally, he describes his siblings, the Japnese values they learned, and the types of food they grew up eating.
