Genro Kashiwa oral history interview, part 4 of 6, October 31, 2001

The 442nd Regimental Combat Team met up with the 100th Infantry Battalion in Italy. Genro Kashiwa describes his first battle experience in Italy, and how the 100th Infantry Battalion looked out for the new recruits of the 442nd RCT in combat. The 442nd RCT was later sent to the French Campaign, in which they participated in the Battle of Bruyeres. Genro describes how O'Connor's Task Force ambushed the German army at Bruyeres, taking many German prisoners of war.
