Description

Shimo discusses being kicked out of the MIS program for his "yes", "no" answers on loyalty questionnaire. While loyal to the United States, he would not serve in combat so long as the Japanese Americans were incarcerated in the American Concentration Camps. He would continue to abstain from combat for the entirety of his Army career. Being transferred to the 1800th Engineering General Service Battalion, Shimo along with other fellow soldiers under suspicion for various reasons, proved they were still capable and good soldiers. Shimo describes his duties domestically in this outfit.
