Description
Thomas Takemoto was born in Waimea, Kauai, but moved to Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 6. His parents were Japanese immigrants from Hiroshima, Japan, and became rice farmers on Kauai. When they moved to Honolulu, Thomas and his siblings helped their parents work in their family-owned restaurant. It was difficult for Thomas and his siblings to communicate with their Issei parents due to a language barrier. Thomas describes his experience in primary, secondary, and high school.
