Description

Morishima recounts his father and mother's emigration to the United States from the Shizuoka Prefecture on the Izu Pensinsula. His father landed first in Mexico, came across the border illegally, met his mother in the U.S., and then returned to Mexico with her to get married in order to America legally. The rest of the segment is devoted to descriptions of family life, moving from farm to farm, and his failing performance at school which prompted his parents to send him to Japan to continue his education.
