Description

Ikari continues to talk about his work life before the war, getting his start in chick sexing and discussing the technique to learning whether a baby chick was a male or female at the hatchery. Next, he talks about being at Los Angeles City College when he first heard about the attacks on Pearl Harbor on the radio. He would see neighbors getting taken away by the FBI and around forty days after the bombings, he would be drafted into the Army. He talks about being inducted into the army, first going to Camp Grand to train at a medical replacement training center. He talks about the basic training, learning to be a medic and getting promoted all the way up to a T5 corporal in the process. He would then hear about the formation of the 442nd and decide that he wanted to volunteer for it.
