Description

Nakabe describes the school house he attended, talks about seeing snow in his neighborhood as a child, and discusses religion including his family's religion as well as his religion while in the Army. He then talks about Japanese American priests who were sent to incarceration camps, discusses his reasons for volunteering for the Army, talks about influential teachers, and discusses his knowledge of pre-war tensions. Next, Nakabe talks about the attack on Pearl Harbor and aftermath; discusses attending high school while in an incarceration camp; and discusses his forced removal to Merced temporary detention facility. Lastly, Nakabe discusses the living conditions at Merced; talks about his mother's correspondence with relatives in Japan; discusses how his parents met; talks about leaving belongings behind after forced removal; and discusses his family's dog.
