Description

Nakamura discusses some of the officers he encountered during World War Two, including Colonel Farrant L. Turner and Major James Lowell; and talks about correspondence with his girlfriend during the war. He then describes his trench foot condition and going to the hospital, followed by going to a replacement depot in Rome where his duties included working at a hotel for military personnel who were on R&R (rest and relaxation). During his time in Rome, Nakamura visited the Vatican and also did some sightseeing. He also visited Rome after the war, and discusses the differences during and after the war, as well as recalling his worst experiences and his best experiences during the war. After the end of World War Two, Nakamura moved back to Hawaii where he got married, had children, and worked as a warehouse clerk.
