Description
Kurokawa begins the interview speaking about his family background. He would grow up first in Hawaii, and then around the age of 5, move to Kyoto, Japan. There, he became immersed in the Japanese culture and began to lose his English, so his parents sent him to a Canadian school. Next, he talks about the Pearl Harbor attacks and his recollection during the war period, including an attempt to ship back to the United States that was blocked by the Japanese Army. He speaks about his experiences in Tokyo, seeing it get leveled as incendiary bombs engulfed homes and food rations were so scarce that the only meats given were those of dog or cat.
