Description

After his time in occupied Japan, Oshiro would be discharged from the Army, as he wanted to pursue his higher education. He discusses the success of the occupation and the role of Nisei linguists and why that model should be used in future occupations. Oshiro would briefly return to Hawaii to work at the plantations so he could save money for college and would attend Wilsons Teachers College until his GI Bill began. He would then attend George Washington University with a mathematics degree, and work there computer programming. He would work for a few different companies, programming and displaying data sets in color for the first time. Next, he talks about his family background which now includes very ambitious grandchildren. Next, he reflects on the success of his life and how enlisting in the Army was the biggest piece of the puzzle. He finishes up with his hopes for the future and a message for future generations.
