Description

Thomas Takemoto describes the Big Five law firms' political control over Hawaii's economy. Before the war, it was difficult for the people of Hawaii to find jobs, especially if they were blackballed by the Big Five. His friend convinced him to attend the University of Hawaii, where he became a member of the UH YMCA and the Deputation Team. After he graduated from college, he helped form youth groups through the local Methodist Church.
