Description
Iwatake was drafted into the Japanese Imperial Army and during his service befriended an American pilot and Prisoner of War, named Warren Vaughn. Iwatake later took his name after he was killed by Japanese soldiers. He also later witnessed former president of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush's rescue by a US submarine while he served in Chichi Jima.
