Description

Nakamura would get drafted into the Army and be assigned to the Military Intelligence Service (MIS) at Schofield Barracks. They would head first to San Francisco, then get on a train leading to Fort McClellan in Alabama to begin boot camp. While in basic training, he would learn heavy weapons training, and be promoted early on before being sent to Fort Snelling for language courses. There, he would learn about the cold weather and study hard. Next, he would be sent to Monterey to finish up his language training and get ready for shipment overseas. He talks about his whereabouts and relief when hearing that the war was over.
