Description

Hamasu discusses his reasons for re-enlisting for the Army, attending radio repair school, and his assignments during the Korean War as a chief radio repairman for the 5th Regimental Combat Team. Hamasu also talks about what Korea was like when he was there, returning to Hawaii, and his assignments as a radio repairman as part of the 17th signal battalion. Next, Hamasu talks about his worst and most memorable war experiences; and discusses his family’s thoughts regarding his military service and Nisei soldiers’ treatment during the war. Lastly, Hamasu discusses his wife and children; Japanese values and morals; a family reunion; and provides some advice for future generations.
