Description

Kamemoto provides his thoughts about citizenship and loyalty in regards to World War Two; describes the term "yamato-damashii"; and discusses the attack on Pearl Harbor and aftermath including his experiences with blackouts and rationing. He then talks about working at a plantation while he was in high school; getting drafted; basic training at Schofield Barracks; attending Military Intelligence Service Language School (MISLS) at both Fort Snelling and Presidio Monterey; and discusses his brief assignment in Japan before getting sent to Korea. He then talks about traveling to Korea and his assignment there as an officer which included translation and interrogation duties. Lastly, Kamemoto talks about his interactions with Korean POWs, provides some observations of his time spend during Japan's occuaption of Korea, talks about recreational activities he participated in while in Korea, and discusses the black market in Korea.
