Description

Kanda talks about attending school, and discusses his teachers and some of the classes he took. He then continues to discuss his childhood and talks about recreational activities such as going to the movies and listening to the radio. Next, Kanda talks about staying in Japan for a few months with his mother and sister before the war; and recalls discussions about Manchuria, sightseeing, visiting relatives, and visiting temples. Lastly, Kanda provides some thoughts about being Japanese vs. Japanese American; discusses his hopes and dreams when he was a child in regards to employment; and talks about his thoughts about Kibei vs. Nisei.
