Description

Doiwchi discusses the aftermath of Pearl Harbor, and going to Japan with a Christian church group in 1936. He then talks about going to Camp Shelby for basic training and being a part of the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion; and discusses the food he was served while in the Army. Doiwchi also recalls a story regarding a visit to the dentist while in the Army, the relationship between the Hawaiian and Mainland soldiers, and his assignment on a gun crew. Next, Doiwchi talks about going overseas to Europe and discusses duties in Southern France with the gliders, and also talks about European Theater campaigns such as the Champagne Campaign, and Lost Battalion rescue. Lastly, Doiwchi describes his food and water situation while overseas.
